ABOUT KACHWEKANO ZARDI

Kachwekano Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (KaZARDI) is located in Rubanda District in South Western Uganda. The institute is composed of three stations, Kachwekano (which is an administrative seat), Kalengyere and Bugongi (which are field stations). Kachwekano ZARDI spearheads agricultural research and development work in Uganda's south western highlands agro-ecological zone (SWHAEZ) that administratively comprises Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rukungiri, Rubanda and Rukiga districts.

Key KaZARDI programmes and core research projects

KAZARDI implements her research work through three (3) programmes which include: Crops Research and Development Programme, Livestock and Fisheries Research and Development Programme, and Technology Promotion Programme. In view of resources and available manpower, KaZARDI and NAROSEC management agreed to prioritize the commodities and formulate projects as highlighted below. Crops Research and Development Programme: Under this programme, work is being done on the following commodities; potatoes, temperate fruits, and sorghum. Below are highlights of the activities done under potato commodity.

NARO (Treasurer)

The Treasurer of Thankam Social Awareness Foundation Trust is Mr. Yesudhas, s/o. Chellakan, aged 60 years, Door no 1-320, Karumputhottam, Cherukole, Kalkulam Thaluk, Kanyakumari District.
